The aim of this study is transfering the third-person singular jussive form in Turkish to German. Hence, the jussive forms in the novel "Kuşlar da Gitti / The Birds are Gone too" by Yaşar Kemal are compared with its German translation "Auch die Vögel sind fort". The aim of this comparison is not the translation criticism but the determination of the current situation. In order to see the reflection of the determined translation possibilities by students of the German department, a small scale questionnaire has been carried out. There is in Turkish a category for this indirect jussive form (Ali gelsin!), however not in German. The function of this category is seen in the 3rd person indirect speech (Jeder kehre vor seiner eigener Haustür / Everyman should sweep his own house entrance) and in modal verbs (Das Feuer soll von hier mitgenommen werden / Fire should be taken from here). Lack of congruence of the modality category in Turkish, has shown that this issue is to be taken into consideration while teaching German. Another feature determined by the students for insufficient translation stems from the lack of lexis

Causative, which is analyzed in the context of voice, differs widely in Turkish and German languages. A causative can be obtained nearly from each verb in Turkish language while this category is not productive in German Language. Like prefixes, which are of great importance in German language, the causative has the same significance in Turkish language. Causatives can be divided into three: a) lexical causative, causative existing in words' own meaning; for instance, there exists such a relationship between the words "slide" and "fall"; b) morphological causative consists of morphemes (öl-dür-t-mek); c) whereas, the context is important for the operant causative. When we say “It smells gas in here’ it may have been intended to open a window and we can make it done. There is a direct connection between the causative and causality. Because, in causative instead of doing something directly, it may be caused to be done or occurred. The notion of causative in German has been reviewed in the semantic context at a low degree. This is because of the fact that, morphological causative verbs are fewer and new causative voices can't be formed. However, this issue has been handled in a very detailed manner especially at morphological level in Turkish language. There is even fine detail under the title causative itself. The most important characteristic of causative is to change the combination value of the verbs. However, the relation between causative and passive is just the opposite of this and asymmetric. Structures having semantic similarities with causatives and named as Funktionsverbgefüge (put into practice = apply) in German exist. Reciprocal voices and reflexive voices, the most important voices of Turkish language, generally allow the formation of causative verb.

Language is an excellent work that arises through interaction and with which we create a reality that can play a constructive as well as a destructive role. Some linguists compare the use of language with the language play. With his emphasis on the use of language and his catchy and polished saying "The meaning of a word is its use in language", Wittgenstein is considered the predecessor of linguistic pragmatics. His statements inspired the most important theorist of speech act theory.. According to Austin, language use is in speech files, with each act arising from the sub-files location, illocation and perlocution, and deficient speech files are also possible. From the fact that there is no limit to the number of contexts, that is, there are infinitely many contexts and, accordingly, so many functions, we can also conclude from an infinite number of explicit or implicit speech acts. The speech acts have a modal character, which a) from the point of view of the speaker and the listener, b) from the context in which the speech acts take place, c) from society as the bearer of a culture and d) from the natural circumstances under which the interactants live, depend. The speech files are only successful if the interactants are willing to cooperate. But that alone is not enough; the principle of politeness is also very constitutive. In this work, special Turkish speech acts are analyzed, which show that the utterance types do not always correspond to the illocution. This can depend on the context and also on supra-segmental characteristics of the respective speech act.
