    The University of Aachen harbored for years the main centre of Studies on Imagology of Germany and perhaps of the world. The Center was founded by Hugo Dyserinck, who, in 1966, with the article "Zum Problem der 'images' und 'mirages' und ihrer Untersuchung im Rahmen der vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft" opened the doors to a new Imagology. He gathered there disciples, who roamed the new horizons with extensive research, which led to the publication of the collection "Aachener Beiträge zur Komparatistik". In Brazil, the influence of Dyserinck was also felt, for example, in the publication of my book "Do cá e do lá. Introdução à Imagologia", whose content is in part commented and illustrated. A Universidade de Aachen abrigou durante anos o principal centro de Estudos Imagológicos da Alemanha e talvez do mundo. O centro foi fundado por Hugo Dyserinck, que, em 1966, com o artigo "Zum Problem der 'images' und 'mirages' und ihrer Untersuchung im Rahmen der vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft" abriu as portas para uma nova Imagologia. Ali reuniu discípulos, que desbravaram os novos horizontes com inúmeras pesquisas, que deram origem à publicação da coleção "Aachener Beiträge zur Komparatistik". No Brasil, a influência de Dyserinck também se fez sentir, por exemplo, na publicação do livro "Do cá e do lá. Introdução à Imagologia", de minha autoria, cujo conteúdo é aqui, em parte, comentado e ilustrado.

    Alfred Döblin is a theorist of German Expressionismus and of the epic novel. In "Berlin Alexanderplatz", he shows the theories of his essay "Der Bau des epischen Werks" ("The construction of the epic werk") in practice. The present paper analyses the following aspects of the novel: 1) the development of the plot, 2) the structure, 3) the language, 4) the function of time, 5) the space of the city, 6) the narrator, 7) the characters. Alfred Döblin ist ein Theoretiker des Expressionismus und auch ein Theoretiker des epischen Romans. In seinem Roman "Berlin Alexanderplatz" zeigt er die theoretischen Forderungen seines Essays "Der Bau des epischen Werks" in der Praxis. Der vorliegende Aufsatz untersucht die folgenden Aspekte des Romans: 1) die Entwicklung der Handlung, 2) die Struktur, 3) die Sprache, 4) die Funktion der Zeit, 5) den Raum der Großstadt, 6) den Erzähler, 7) die Figuren.

    In expressionist poetry we can detect a first major rupture in the relations between man and nature. In expressionist poems such as "Weltende" ("The end of the world") by Jakob van Hoddis, we can read and see the fear and distrust of man in face cf the progress that the industrial revolution has brought. The theme of the destruction of nature in our days caused by modern/post-modern technology may be also read and seen in German literature of the eighties, as for example in the poems of Sarah Kirsch, in which she shows concrete landscapes,

    poisoned rivers, forests and air. In der expressionistischen Lyrik kann man einen ersten großen Bruch in den Beziehungen zwischen Mensch und Natur beobachten. In expressionistischen Gedichten, wie z. B. in "Weltende" von Jakob van Hoddis, werden die menschliche Angst und das Mißtrauen vor dem von der industnellen Revolution gebrachten Fortschritt auf eine schockierende Weise, d.h. durch apokalyptische Bilder, ausgedrückt. Diese Thematik der Naturzerstörung wird in den 80er Jahren auf eine emphatische Weise wiederaufgenommen. Es handelt sich jetzt um eine Naturzerstörung durch die moderne, oder besser: post-moderne, Technologie, d.h. um einen zweiten großen Bruch in den Beziehungen zwischen Mensch und Natur. Unter anderen Sarah Kirsch widmet sich der Aufgabe, die beschädigte Welt von heute, d.h. die betonierte Landschaft, die vergifteten Wälder, Flüsse, und die Verschmutzung der Luft, in Gedichten zu gestalten.
