The Kunín manuscript R16 contains several important pharmaceutical texts. An analysis of the content and of the language of a tract on tumours supplements previous publications on this manuscript and highlights the interconnection of themes dealt with in its individual sections.

    Při vyjadřování emocí v ústní komunikaci hraje hlas významnou roli. Článek se zabývá otázkou, jak je hlas v souvislosti s emocemi popisován v psaných textech, a sice německých románech. Na ukázkách z německého korpusu Cosmas II je ukázáno, jaké strategie volí spisovatelé, aby čtenáři přiblížili emoce prožívané postavami románu a která slovesa a přídavná jména používají nejčastěji při znázornění emoce "hněv". The voice plays an important role in expressing emotions within oral communication. This paper examines how voices are described in relation to emotions in written texts (German novels). Using extracts from the Cosmas II corpus, the author shows what strategies are chosen by writers to depict the emotions experienced by the characters, and which verbs and adjectives are most frequently used when describing the emotion of anger.

    Die Berichterstattung in den heutigen Medien hat oft nicht nur eine informative, sondern auch eine persuasive Funktion: zusammen mit Informationen mit dem Ziel, eine bestimmte Wirkung auf den Rezipienten zu erreichen, ihn zu überzeugen und zu beeinflussen. Eine wirkungsvolle Persuasion geht mit Manipulationen einher. Wie die öffentliche Meinung manipuliert werden kann, wird im Folgenden am Beispiel der Berichterstattung aus dem medizinischen Bereich demonstriert. Ich habe dafür Artikel über das Zika-Virus gewählt, vor allem deshalb, weil besonders in den ersten Monaten des Jahres 2016 die Verbreitung dieses Virus enorm häufig thematisiert wurde und Emotionen dabei eine bedeutende Rolle gespielt haben. News reporting in the print media is often used not only to present information, but also to manipulate public opinion. The emotionalization of the text is used as a tool for manipulation. The article explores the linguistic means usedto emotionalize texts using the example of reports in the German press concerning the spread of the Zika virus. The article shows how emotional linguistic resources are used in the presentation of information by three periodicals ranging from the tabloid press to the quality press.

    Unter deutschen Handschriften, die in tschechischen Archiven und Bibliotheken aufbewahrt werden, findet man zahlreiche Überlieferungen mittelalterlicher und frühneuzeitlicher Fachliteratur. Ein Teil dieser Texte ist in Böhmen und/oder in Mähren entstanden und ist auf die jahrhundertelange Zweisprachigkeit und das Zusammenleben von Tschechen und Deutschen auf diesem Gebiet zurückzuführen. Ein beträchtlicher Teil der überlieferten Fachliteratur wurde jedoch anderswo geschrieben. Diese Werke, die auf verschiedene Art und Weise nach Böhmen oder Mähren gelangten, können heute als Zeugen der engen Kontakte zwischen tschechisch- und deutschsprachigen Ländern in der Vergangenheit angesehen werden. The German late medieval and early modern manuscripts held in Czech archives and libraries include numerous texts on medicine and folk healing. These texts cover a wide variety of subjects, including very sporadic examples of texts on gynecology and pediatrics. One such text is a treatise from manuscript XV E 17 held at the National Library in Prague. The treatise presents practical guidelines, advice and recipes connected with four main topics: menstruation, womb disorders, childbirth, and postnatal care (including the selection of a suitable wetnurse). In addition to analyzing the content of the treatise, the article also focuses on selected linguistic aspects of the text, especially dialect features (enabling the text to be localized in the East Central Germanregion) and the use of specialist terminology.
