    This study is an introduction to the systems theory developed by the German sociologist Niklas Luhmann (1927-1998) and its significance for literaty studies. It departs from a historical point of view which understands the period around 1800 as the climax of the transformation from a stratified European society into a modern society with a social order structured by differentiated systems such as education, economy, law or literature, each with its specific function and characterized by its typical form of communication. In Germany, the literary system reflects this process in the poetology of Romantic writers. Literary communication is defined as a second order observation that oscillates between the real and potential and makes the ordered forms clearer. The autonomous and differentiated literary system becomes a field that is being observed by its environment. The history of literature in the 19th century instrumentalizes it for political goals, while the new copyright laws and the idea of the book as a profitable merchandise imbued the system of literature with accelerated dynamics. Dieser Artikel beschäftigt sich mit der Relevanz der Systemtheorie Niklas Luhmanns (1927-1998) für die Literaturwissenschaften. Ausgangspunkt ist eine historische Analyse, die die Zeit um 1800 als Höhepunkt der Entwicklung von einer stratifizierten hin zu einer modernen Gesellschaftsstruktur begreift, die durch die Ausdifferenzierung von Funktionssystemen wie Wirtschaft, Erziehung, Recht oder Literatur gekennzeichnet ist in Deutschland reflektiert die romantische Poetik diesen Prozess. Literarische Kommunikation wird als Beobachtung zweiter Ordnung aufgefasst, die zwischen dem Aktuellen und Potenziellen oszilliert und so Ordnungsformen deutlich macht. Gleichzeitig wird das autonome und ausdifferenzierte Literatursystem von seiner Umwelt beobachtet. Die Literaturgeschichte des 19. Jahrhunderts instrumentalisiert es für politische Ziele, während das neue Urheberrecht und das Buch als Ware zu einer gesteigerten Dynamik der literarischen Produktion beitragen.

    This article conceives the avant-garde as a form of art that emerges out of the experience with technical progress, city life and new patterns of perception and that succeeded in transforming multiple perspective and simultaneity of urban life into a central principle for their production. Analyzed are the European avant-gardes as well as their influences on Brazilian literature and painting in the 20s. Furthermore we take a look at concrete poetry of the 50's as a literary pendant to architectonic concepts of cities like São Paulo and Brasília. Dieser Artikel beschäftigt sich mit der Avantgarde als Kunstform, die sich aus der Auseinandersetzung mit technischem Fortschritt, Stadterfahrung und neuen Wahrnehmungsmustern formiert und die Multiperspektivität und Simultanität des urbanen Lebens als ein zentrales Prinzip für ihre Werke nutzt. Untersucht werden sowohl die europäischen Avantgardisten wie auch ihr Einfluss auf Literatur und Malerei Brasiliens in den 20er Jahren. Ein weiterer Teil widmet sich der konkreten Poesie als literarisches Pendant zu architektonischen Konzepten von Städten wie São Paulo und Brasília.

    This article analyses the influence of Kant on conceptions and definitions of modern literature and art in publications by Lyotard, Kothe, Weber and Luhmann. It is argued that central issues in these publications, such as artistic autonomy, the sublime and the concept of L’art pour l’art, are adopted directly from Kant’s philosophical work and still serve as paradigms in the discussion of origin and status of modern social structure and its art production. Der Artikel beschäftigt sich mit dem Einfluss von Kant auf Konzepte der modernen Kunst, wie sie etwa in Arbeiten von Lyotard, Kothe, Weber oder Luhmann formuliert werden. Zentrale Punkte sind die Begriffe der Autonomie, des Erhabenen sowie L’art pour l’art als Paradigmen innerhalb der Diskussion über Beginn und Entwicklung der künstlerischen und sozialen Moderne.

    This paper aims to analyze the novel "Imperium" by Christian Kracht (2012) within the long tradition of self-enactments of writers and artists in general as a constitutive element of the aesthetic field. Concerning Kracht, this is done first in the narrative text itself as a literary enactment with all its facets and second in Kracht's bewildering media appearances where his literary writings, in itself dubious, are once more rearranged, put in doubt or enriched. This procedure thus generates uncertainties, ambiguities and disfigurements that are the hallmark of Kracht in the contemporary literary universe. O artigo objetiva abordar o romance "Imperium" de Christian Kracht (2012) dentro da longa tradição estética de autoencenações de escritores e artistas em geral. No caso de Kracht, isso é feito inicialmente a partir do próprio texto narrativo como encenação literária em todas as suas facetas e, em seguida, a partir de suas desconcertantes aparições mediáticas, em que seus escritos literários, já de per si dúbios, são rearranjados, questionados ou enriquecidos. Geram-se assim incertezas, ambiguidades e desfigurações que são a marca registrada de Kracht no universo literário atual.

    In the XIX century, occurs a significant increase in the trips, especially due to the innovation in technology of the means of transportation. That development is followed by the production and by the consumption of literature related to the theme. Likewise in the contemporary literature the travelogues are recurring. The present article aims to approach the reports and stories that compose "Der gelbe Bleistift" ("The yellow pencil"), by the swiss author Christian Kracht, making a counterpoint with the travel literature of the XIX century. Among the centuries travel literature didn't lose it's fascination, contributing to enlarge the horizons of the readers, but also to question their own values under a perspective of a detached look of their own reality. No século XIX, ocorre um significativo aumento nas viagens, especialmente devido à inovação na tecnologia dos meios de transporte. Esse desenvolvimento é acompanhado pela produção e pelo consumo de literatura relacionada ao tema. Igualmente na literatura contemporânea os relatos de viagens são recorrentes. O presente artigo tem como objetivo abordar as reportagens e os relatos que compõem "Der gelbe Bleistift" ("O lápis amarelo"), do autor suíço Christian Kracht, fazendo um contraponto com a literatura de viagem do século XIX. A literatura de viagem ao longo dos séculos não perdeu seu fascínio, contribuindo para ampliar os horizontes dos leitores, mas também para que eles questionem seus próprios valores sob a perspectiva de um olhar distanciado de sua realidade.
