Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906) and Edvard Munch (1863-1944) were two of the greatest artists to ever come from Norway. They were never close friends, but Munch was a big admirer of Ibsen. 'When I read Ibsen, I read about myself,' Munch claimed several times. For his part, Ibsen highly respected the young painter who had created a number of motifs inspired by his writings.
