    Der vorliegende Band präsentiert eine breite Palette von elektronischen Editionsformen und möglichen Computer-Systemen für die Editionsarbeit. Beiträge zu elektronischen Standardisierungen (SGML, TEI, Metadata) und allgemeinen Problemen (Urheberrecht) bei elektronischen Publikationen führen in die Thematik ein. Fallstudien veranschaulichen aktuelle Entwicklungen im Bereich elektronische Edition, und einzelne Essays zu den Aspekten Edition, Publikation und Archivierung, die vom Gesamtkomplex "computergestützte Text-Edition" heuristisch getrennt sind, beschließen den Band. This volume discusses a broad range of electronic editing forms and computer systems of potential interest for scholarly editing. Articles on electronic standardizations (SGML, TEI, Metadata) and problems of a general nature (copyright) pertaining to electronic publications provide an introduction to the overall subject. Case studies illustrate present developments in the field of electronic editing. The volume closes with essays on aspects of editing, publication, and archive work heuristically separated off from the overall complex 'computer-aided text editing'.

    "In Rhetorical Code Studies, Kevin Brock explores how software code serves as a means of meaningful communication through which amateur and professional software developers construct arguments--arguments that are not only made up of logical procedures but also of implicit and explicit claims about how a given program works (or should work). These claims appear as procedures and as conventional discourse in the form of code comments and in email messages, forum posts, and other venues for conversation with other developers. To investigate the rhetorical qualities of code, Brock extends ongoing conversations in rhetoric and composition on software by turning to a number of case examples ranging from large, well-known projects like Mozilla Firefox to small-scale programs like the "FizzBuzz" test common in many programming job interviews. These examples, which involve specific examination of code texts as well as the contexts surrounding their composition, demonstrate the variety and depth of rhetorical activity taking place in and around code, from individual differences in style to changes in large-scale community norms"-- Conclusions6.     The genesis of this volume was the participation of the editors in an ACMlSIGIR (Association for Computing Machinery/Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval) workshop entitled "Beyond Word Relations" (Hetzler, 1997). This workshop examined a number of relationship types with significance for information retrieval beyond the conventional topic-matching relationship. From this shared participation came the idea for an edited volume on relationships, with chapters to be solicited from researchers and practitioners throughout the world. Ultimately, one volume became two volumes. The first volume, Relationships in the Organization of Knowledge (Bean & Green, 200 I), examines the role of relationships in knowledge organization theory and practice, with emphasis given to thesaural relationships and integration across systems, languages, cultures, and disciplines. This second volume examines relationships in a broader array of contexts. The two volumes should be seen as companions, each informing the other. As with the companion volume, we are especially grateful to the authors who willingly accepted challenges of space and time to produce chapters that summarize extensive bodies of research. The value of the volume clearly resides in the quality of the individual chapters. In naming this volume The Semantics of Relationships: An Interdisciplinary Perspective, we wanted to highlight the fact that relationships are not just empty connectives. Relationships constitute important conceptual units and make significant contributions to meaning

    "In Rhetorical Code Studies, Kevin Brock explores how software code serves as a means of meaningful communication through which amateur and professional software developers construct arguments--arguments that are not only made up of logical procedures but also of implicit and explicit claims about how a given program works (or should work). These claims appear as procedures and as conventional discourse in the form of code comments and in email messages, forum posts, and other venues for conversation with other developers. To investigate the rhetorical qualities of code, Brock extends ongoing conversations in rhetoric and composition on software by turning to a number of case examples ranging from large, well-known projects like Mozilla Firefox to small-scale programs like the "FizzBuzz" test common in many programming job interviews. These examples, which involve specific examination of code texts as well as the contexts surrounding their composition, demonstrate the variety and depth of rhetorical activity taking place in and around code, from individual differences in style to changes in large-scale community norms"--

Fallstudien veranschaulichen aktuelle Entwicklungen im Bereich elektronische Edition, und einzelne Essays zu den Aspekten Edition, Publikation und Archivierung, die vom Gesamtkomplex "computergestützte Text-Edition" heuristisch getrennt sind, beschließen den Band. This volume discusses a broad range of electronic editing forms and computer systems of potential interest for scholarly editing. Articles on electronic standardizations (SGML, TEI, Metadata) and problems of a general nature (copyright) pertaining to electronic publications provide an introduction to the overall subject. Case studies illustrate present developments in the field of electronic editing. The volume closes with essays on aspects of editing, publication, and archive work heuristically separated off from the overall complex 'computer-aided text editing'.
