    The purpose of this essay is to undergo an investigation geared towards identifying the consolidation of the symbolized Upper or Ideal Truth illustrated by the figure of the goddess Saïs in the fragmentary novel 'Die Lehrlinge zu Saïs', from Novalis, written in 1801. As part of our approach, we traced a parallel between the allegorical use of Saïs myth by Novalis and in Schiller´s poem 'Das verschleierte Bild zu Saïs', aiming at a better characterization of Novalis' concept of the Ideal Truth. Lastly, we analyzed the fairy tale 'Hyazinth und Rosenblüte', which is part of the novel 'Die Lehrlinge zu Saïs', where it is possible to envisage the finding of the Ideal Truth searched by the poets of German Early Romanticism, especially by Novalis. O presente artigo tem por objetivo investigar como se dá a questão da busca do conhecimento ilustrada pela figura da deusa Saïs no fragmento de romance de Novalis 'Die Lehrlinge zu Saïs', escrito em 1801. Em nossa investigação, traçamos um paralelo entre o uso alegórico do mito de Saïs em Novalis e no poema de Schiller 'Das verschleierte Bild zu Saïs', a fim de melhor caracterizar o conceito de verdade novalisiano. Por fim, procuramos analisar o conto de fadas 'Hyazinth und Rosenblüte', que se encontra no interior da narrativa em questão, uma vez que nele se dá o encontro ideal da Verdade almejado pelos poetas do primeiro-romantismo alemão, em especial, por Novalis. Ziel dieses Aufsatzes ist die Darstellung einer Untersuchung des fragmentarischen Romans 'Die Lehrlinge zu Saïs', von Novalis (1801). Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, inwieweit sich die Erkenntnis der Wahrheit in der Figur der Göttin Saïs verwirklicht. Um Novalis' Begriff der Wahrheit besser zu erläutern, wurde Schillers Gedicht 'Das verschleierte Bild zu Saïs' parallel dazu betrachtet. Zuletzt wird auch eine Analyse des Märchens 'Hyazinth und Rosenblüte' angeführt, das in Novalis' Werk 'Die Lehrlinge zu Saïs' vorkommt, denn dieses Märchen illustriert die Erkenntnis der Wahrheit, die von den Frühromantikern gesucht wurde, besonders von Novalis.

    O objetivo do presente artigo é apresentar alguns aspectos teóricos postulados pelo escritor alemão Alfred Döblin em seus ensaios ao desenvolver sua própria concepção da obra épica na "era da técnica" à luz de questões estilísticas, propondo conceitos como "estilo cinematográfico", "despersonalização", "fantasia factual" e "fantasia cinética". Para uma delimitação conceitual em relação à noção de "estilo", serão tomadas por base as considerações de Antoine Compagnon, postuladas na obra "O demônio da teoria" (1999), bem como as reflexões de Walter Benjamin, presents na resenha "A crise do romance" (1930) e no ensaio "O narrador" (1936). The aim of this paper is to present some theoretical aspects, postulated by German writer Alfred Döblin in his essays, as he developed his own conception of the epic work in "the technical era", based on stylistic aspects, proposing concepts such as "film style", "depersonalization", "factual fantasy" and "kinetic fantasy". As a basis for a conceptual definition concerning the notion of "style", this paper takes into account Antoine Compagnon´s arguments in the work "Literature, theory and common sense" (1998), as well as Walter Benjamin's reflections presented in the review "The crisis of the novel" (1930) and the essay "The Storyteller" (1936). Ziel dieses Beitrags ist, einige theoretische Aspekte zu präsentieren, die Alfred Döblin in seinen Essays bei der Entwicklung seiner eigenen Auffassung vom epischen Werk im "technischen Zeitalter" im Lichte von stilistischen Fragen verfasst, sowie Begriffe wie "Kinostil", "Depersonation", "Tatsachenphantasie" und "kinetische Phantasie" postuliert hat. Für die genaue Erörterung des "Stil" Begriffs werden die Betrachtungen Antoine Compagnons im Buch "Le démon de la théorie" (1998), wie auch die Überlegungen Walter Benjamins in der Rezension "Krisis des Romans" (1930) und im Essay "Der Erzähler" (1936) als Grundlagen genommen.

    This article is an analysis of the novel "Die neuen Leiden des jungen W." (1973) in the light of its intertextuality with Goethe's, Defoe's and Salinger's texts. It has been suggested that Plenzdorf's novel creates a stylistic and ideological world, which is instigating for the literary paradigms of the Socialist Realism of the 70s in East Germany. Twenty years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall, this created world in the novel seems to be up-to-date or even paradigmatic for the current representation of German Democratic Republic cultural memory in literature and film. ... Nesta análise do romance "Die neuen Leiden des jungen W." (1973) em sua intertextualidade com os romances de Goethe, Defoe e Salinger, sugere-se que o texto de Plenzdorf cria um universo estilístico e ideológico instigante a uma produção inserida no contexto literário do Realismo Socialista dos anos 70 na Alemanha Oriental. Vinte anos após a Queda do Muro de Berlim, esse universo revela-se atual, senão modelar, para o (re)trabalho de memória cultural da RDA representado na literatura e no cinema contemporâneos. ... Ziel dieses Beitrags ist die intertextuelle Untersuchung von Plenzdorfs Roman "Die neuen Leiden des jungen W." (1973), unter der Berücksichtigung von Goethes "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers" (1774), Defoes "Robinson Crusoe" (1719) und Salingers "Der Fänger im Roggen" (1951). Daraus ergeben sich interessante stilistische und ideologische Aspekte für einen innerhalb des realsozialistischen Staats verfassten Roman. Diese Aspekte werden 20 Jahre nach dem Fall der Berliner Mauer aktuell, wenn nicht paradigmatisch für eine Generation von Schriftstellern und Kinomachern, die sich nach den untersuchten Betrachtungsweisen mit dem kulturellen Gedächtnis der DDR befassen. ...

    O presente trabalho analisa a estrutura narrativa do romance "O tambor" ("Die Blechtrommel") de Günter Grass e do filme homônimo dirigido por Volker Schlöndorff, observando a forma como o romancista articula a construção complexa de seu foco narrativo e como o cineasta trabalha essa estrutura em seu filme, o que resulta em diferentes formas de perceber e interpretar tanto o narradorpersonagem quanto o universo no qual está inserido, levando em consideração que a discussão sobre adaptações de obras literárias em realizações cinematográficas já passou da discussão moralizante da fidelidade ou traição para uma discussão menos valorativa. ... The purpose of this work is to analyze the narrative structure of the novel by Günter Grass "Die Blechtrommel", and the film with the same title, by Volker Schlöndorff, observing, on the one hand, the way the writer articulates the construction of his narrative point of view and, on the other hand, how the movie maker builds the structure of his film, which then results in different ways of perception and interpretation on the part of the character-narrator and the universe of which he is part. ... Diese Arbeit beabsichtigt, die narrative Struktur des Romans "Die Blechtrommel" von Günter Grass und die des gleichnamigen Filmes von Volker Schlöndorff zu analysieren, um dabei zu beobachten, wie der Autor die komplexe Erzählsituation artikuliert und wie der Regisseur diese Struktur in seinem Film bearbeitet, was zu unterschiedlichen Wahrnehmungen und Interpretationen der Erzählfigur und ihres Universums führt. Es wird berücksichtigt, dass die Diskussion um die filmische Umsetzung literarischer Werke inzwischen das moralistische Gebiet der "Treue" oder des "Verrates" verlassen hat und zu einer weniger wertenden Diskussion übergegangen ist. ...

    This paper presents an overview of the central arguments of some studies and essays about Austrian literature (Menasse; Schmidt-Dengler; Sebald, Weiss, Zeyringer) that are concerned with the existence of a difference between the Austrian and other German language literatures. To illuminate the core points of these discussions, we will compare them to representative arguments about Austrian literature from post-war decades. ... In diesem Beitrag werden zentrale Argumente wissenschaftlicher Publikationen und Aufsätze (Menasse; Schmidt-Dengler; Sebald, Weiss, Zeyringer) über die österreichische Literatur zusammengefasst und näher beleuchtet, insbesondere jene, die sich auf die Eigenständigkeit der österreichischen Literatur neben anderen Literaturen in deutscher Sprache beziehen. Um diese Debatten in ihren historischen Zusammenhang zu stellen, werden sie mit theoretischen Ansätzen v.a. der Nachkriegszeit verglichen, die sich dem selben Thema widmen. ...     This article is composed by two different, though articulated, moments. First we intend to discuss some aspects of the difficulties related to literary historiography nowadays, by questioning the concept itself, as well as the difficulties in establishing a History of German Literature, when we consider some Austrian contemporary authors. After that, we discuss some aspects regarding the Austrian author Thomas Bernhard's last play, "Heroes' Square" ("Heldenplatz"), premièred in 1988. ... Este artigo é formado por dois momentos distintos, porém articulados. Em primeiro lugar, pretende-se colocar algumas questões centrais para a discussão sobre a historiografia literária. Isso será feito tanto pelo questionamento de seu estatuto nos dias de hoje, bem como das dificuldades de se estabelecer uma história literária em língua alemã, quando se tem em vista autores austríacos contemporâneos.     This paper aims to study the literary genre tragedy and investigate how it can be truly identified in the works of two authors of the German Enlightenment and Classicism: G. E. Lessing and F. Schiller. In order to reach this goal, it is necessary first to step back to the Greek antiquity and study the origins of this type of text. Additionally, some titles by Shakespeare and Racine will be taken into consideration as further support of our claims. Este artigo tem como objetivo proceder a um breve levantamento do gênero tragédia e verificar até que ponto ele está realmente representado no Iluminismo e no Classicismo alemão dentro da obra de G. E. Lessing e de F. Schiller. Para tanto, é necessário recuarmos no tempo até a Antiguidade clássica e estudarmos os fundamentos desse tipo de texto. O exame de alguns títulos dos autores propostos será, antes, devidamente respaldado pela apreciação de dois estágios da história da tragédia: em Shakespeare e Racine. Absicht des Aufsatzes ist es, eine kurze Aufhebung der literarischen Gattung Tragödie auszuführen und nachzusehen, inwiefern sie in der deutschen Aufklärung und Klassik besonders in den Werken G. E. Lessings und F. Schillers tatsächlich dargestellt ist. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, ist es zuerst einmal notwendig zurück bis zur Antike zu greifen und dort die Grundlinien dieser Art Text zu studieren. Die Untersuchung mancher Titel der erwähnten Dichter wird noch präziser durch die Miteinbeziehung der Werke Shakespeares und Racines in diesen Beitrag.

    This article results from a research carried out between April and June of 2010 in the Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros at the Universidade de São Paulo, in which a complete list of titles related to the German language and culture was collected from João Guimarães Rosa's personal library. Alongside a description of the procedures taken, we offer a comment on some of the most important aspects of the material analysed, including its recurrent themes and features, such as the marginalia found in volumes by authors like Nietzsche, Kafka and Erich Auerbach, as well as on the general context of Guimarães Rosa's German readings. ... O artigo resulta de pesquisa realizada entre os meses de abril e junho de 2010 no Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros (USP) e apresenta a listagem completa dos títulos pertencentes à biblioteca de João Guimarães Rosa que de algum modo se relacionam à língua e cultura alemãs. Descrevemos nosso procedimento e procuramos privilegiar alguns aspectos do material estudado, elaborando uma introdução ao levantamento, comentando as presenças mais significativas, os temas recorrentes e a marginália encontrada em volumes de autores como Nietzsche, Kafka e Erich Auerbach, bem como o contexto da relação de Guimarães Rosa com as leituras alemãs. ...

    This article presents a study of the short story "A hora e a vez de Augusto Matraga", by Guimarães Rosa, which investigates how the tragic appears in this literary work and how it might represent a redemption signal to the main character. The study is based on Nietzsche's concept of the tragedy, constituted by the fusion between two opposite impulses. They are related to Apollo and Dionysus' spirits that represent appearance and essence, respectively. Neste artigo é feito um estudo do conto "A hora e a vez de Augusto Matraga", de Guimarães Rosa, de modo a se observar como o trágico manifesta-se nessa obra e como ele pode representar um sinal de salvação para a personagem principal. Tal estudo está ancorado na concepção de trágico nietzschiana, segundo a qual a tragédia se constitui a partir da fusão de duas forças opostas, referentes aos espíritos de Apolo e Dioniso, representantes da aparência e da essência, respectivamente.

    This article offers a short overview about the teaching of German in Brazil. Following the concepts and dimensions of bilingualism and bilinguality, it identifies the teaching of German as a second language and deals with the aspect of the intercultural learning in two bilingual schools in Rio de Janeiro, where the German language is defined as language and culture 2. This paper proposes a reflection on the issue of interculturalism within the theme that surrounds Easter eggs as an illustrative example of the way a holiday is celebrated in bilingual school contexts. This study is based on a sociocultural perspective of language, focusing on the relationship between language, identity and social structure. O presente artigo oferece um breve panorama acerca do ensino da língua alemã no Brasil. Seguindo os conceitos e dimensões de bilinguismo e bilingualidade , identifica o ensino de língua alemã como segunda língua e trata do aspecto da interculturalidade restrito à análise da prática em duas escolas bilíngues do Rio de Janeiro, onde a língua/cultura alemã é a segunda língua.(L2) Propõese uma reflexão sobre a questão da interculturalidade no âmbito da comemoração de datas festivas em escolas bilíngues. Dentro dessa temática e no contexto escolar bilíngue, delimitamos o estudo a eventos comemorativos como a Páscoa, marcados pela distribuição de ovinhos de Páscoa/Ostereier. O estudo baseia-se em uma perspectiva sociocultural da linguagem e ressalta as relações entre língua, identidade e estrutura social.

    "Navigare necesse est" [...] Ao longo dos tempos, esta expressão de ousadia conservou-se no discurso literário da cultura ocidental. No século XX, serviram-se dela, por exemplo, dois autores indelevelmente inscritos na memória cultural da língua portuguesa: o poeta Fernando Pessoa, como vimos, e ainda o cantautor Caetano Veloso. […] Nesta linha de apropriação se situa também o escritor austríaco Stefan Zweig quando, em 1937, intitula “Navigare necesse est” o capítulo introdutório da biografia “Magellan. Der Mann und seine Tat”. Ao contrário dos autores de língua portuguesa acima mencionados, Zweig adopta apenas o primeiro segmento do axioma, pois no fenómeno de intertextualidade. ...
