While the subject of racism is currently drawing social attention increasingly, the presence of racist structures and stereotypes in the most diverse areas of contemporary German society is being proven and exposed. Against this background, the research shed light on the importance of German-language children’s literature for the internalisation of racist thought patterns. Based on close reading of selected contemporary children’s books, the re_production and communication of various manifestations of racism are analysed. From an intersectional perspective, standards of anti-discrimination in the literary world are recommended to promote more diversity in children’s literature and anti-racist thinking.
