This text aims to divulge a chronological and commented panorama of the critical studies published about the literature produced by German-speaking immigrants and their descendants in Brazil, arguing that this is a partial critique. This text also aims to emphasize the need to draw attention to this field of research. Nowadays, in addition to the poetic approach, other critical perspectives, such as cultural studies, imagology and memory studies, open new horizons. The encouraging words of Boris Fausto in Fazer a América (1999) must be taken into consideration as well as the support positions of Wander de Melo Miranda in Nações literárias (2010). According to Melo Miranda for example we could say that the literary production in German in Brazil belongs to the Brazilian culture and is a literary nation within this country

This essay aims at making a survey of Kafka’s reception in Brazil. After justifying the importance of this study, I show how intermittently Kafka’s work was translated into Brazilian Portuguese in the very beginning of his reception, that is to say, 1956. The first text published in Brazil was "Die Verwandlung", which was written in German in 1915. However this text was not translated from the German, but from the English. Other texts were translated from the French. Translations from the German only appeared in 1983, among them the one with the 'short stories' "Kleine Fabel", "Der Geier", "Gibs auf!" and "Vor dem Gesetz". It is interesting to notice that essays and other articles in newspapers on Kafka and his work preceded the translations. For example, the first essay on the author was written by Otto Maria Carpeaux in August 1941 in the newspaper "Correio da Manhã". Nowadays Kafka’s work is object of considerable research in Brazil.

The University of Aachen harbored for years the main centre of Studies on Imagology of Germany and perhaps of the world. The Center was founded by Hugo Dyserinck, who, in 1966, with the article "Zum Problem der 'images' und 'mirages' und ihrer Untersuchung im Rahmen der vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft" opened the doors to a new Imagology. He gathered there disciples, who roamed the new horizons with extensive research, which led to the publication of the collection "Aachener Beiträge zur Komparatistik". In Brazil, the influence of Dyserinck was also felt, for example, in the publication of my book "Do cá e do lá. Introdução à Imagologia", whose content is in part commented and illustrated.

In "Das Jahr Lazertis" Günter Eich works with the concept of "lost word" on multiple levels with mythological, historical, geographical, psychological, sociologic and poetical implications. This article pretends to investigate the textual constructions of these semantic configurations.
